The cake table for a baby shower.  The main cake was vanilla and the three mini-cakes were chocolate.

The icing was all fondant.

A boombox cake for a 16th birthday party.  Lots of bright colors--SO fun!

Polka dots are very popular lately.  Again, the foil in the bow is only there to help hold the shape until the party.

A sculpted football helmet cake for a boy's 16th birthday.  The helmet was covered with fondant to give a smooth appearance, but the cake was buttercream icing.

This adorable cake was for a little girl's first birthday.  All the decorating was done with fondant.  Fondant will dry out and hold it's shape after a few hours.  The foil you see helps give the bow some support while it dries and will be removed before the party.

Great shower/birthday cakes!

This adorable cake was for a baby shower. It was my first time making a "bump" cake--and I think it turned out to be one of my all time favorites! The decorating was all done with fondant.

Cute baby shower cake! The cake is iced with buttercream frosting and the bow and dots are fondant.

My first attempt at a "Mad Hatter" cake. I definitely learned a few things to do differently next time to make the assembly smoother and the cake better overall. This is a fun idea for birthdays!

Same cake, but with a different topper.

Latest wedding

Three tiered wedding cake--all spice cake with buttercream icing. The tiers were 6", 9", and 12". I'm a BIG fan of the 3" diameter increments.

Poker anyone?

I apologize for the quality of these images, but I just had to post this cake. I had so much fun making every aspect of it! The cake is iced in buttercream icing and the green diamond, cards, and poker chips are made of fondant.

Wedding favorites

Below are pictures of some of my favorite wedding cakes. All of the cakes in the pictures have buttercream icing. Many brides like fondant because it gives a smooth appearance, but I've found buttercream can be worked with to create a mostly smooth finish also.

The wedding cake that started it all. Green ribbon around the base of each layer and real white and yellow roses between each layer.

This was quite possibly the most delicious wedding cake I have ever made. It was chocolate cake with fluffy peanut butter filling and chocolate buttercream icing. SOOOOO good! I highly recommend this combination!

I loved the combination of elegance and playfulness in this cake. The icing was very elegant and graceful at first glance...and yet it was funfetti cake underneath!

It's hard to tell in this picture, but each tier had a scattering of small tri-dots on the sides. The flowers were real orchids.

A gorgeous five tiered creation. I love how the detailing stands out against the white.
